初，武宗有子二人，長明宗，次文宗。 Earlier, Wuzong had two sons — the elder Mingzong, the younger Wenzong.

我曲律皇帝入纂大統，修舉庶政，動合成法，授大寶位於普顏篤皇帝以及格堅皇帝。 Our Emperor Qutuqtu entered to succeed to the Great Foundation, repaired and raised all government affairs, and in action conformed to law; he bestowed the Great Treasure upon Emperors Buyan Toq and Gegegen.

Though she dominated the inner court during Temür's late illnesses, she trusted the chief minister Harqasun and helped bring the Dade reign to a stable close—a point critics still acknowledged). 裕宗居燕邸及潮河，順宗俱在侍，稍長，世祖賜女侍郭氏，後乃納后為妃，生武宗及仁宗。 When Zhenjin resided at the Yan residence and at Chaohe, Darmabala was always in attendance. When he grew somewhat older, Kublai granted him the attendant Guo, and later he took Daji as consort. She bore Külüg Khan and Ayurbarwada, who became Emperors Wuzong and Renzong.

時武宗總兵北邊，右丞相答剌罕哈剌哈孫陰遣使報仁宗，與后奔還京師。 At that time Külüg Khan commanded troops on the northern frontier. The Right Chancellor Daraqan Qaraqas secretly sent envoys to inform Ayurbarwada, and the empress and he rushed back to the capital.

即遣使迎武宗還，以五月即位。 They immediately sent envoys to welcome Külüg Khan back, and in the fifth month he took the throne.

重光為武宗生年，旃蒙為仁宗生年。 Chongguang was Külüg Khan's birth year; Zhanmeng was Ayurbarwada's birth year.

太后頗惑其言，遣近臣朵耳諭旨武宗曰：「汝兄弟二人，皆我所出，豈有親疏。 The Empress Dowager was rather swayed by their words and sent a close attendant, Dor, to convey her instruction to Külüg Khan: "You two brothers were both born of me. How could there be closeness or distance?

武宗聞之默然，進康裏脫脫而言曰：「我捍北邊十年，又胤次居長，太后以星命為言，茫昧難信。 Külüg Khan heard this and was silent. He advanced Kangli Toqto'a and said, "I have defended the northern frontier for ten years, and by birth order I am the elder. The Empress Dowager speaks of star-fate — it is obscure and hard to trust.

五月，武宗既立，即日尊太后為皇太后。 In the fifth month, after Külüg Khan had been established, that same day he honored the Empress Dowager as Empress Dowager.

方武宗之北狩，適成廟之賓天。 Just as Külüg Khan was hunting in the north, Chengzong became a guest of Heaven.

Bangning declined, saying, "I am only a castrated man spared from death; I have no hope of a new life. The previous emperor mercifully pardoned and employed me, letting me fill a post among the palace attendants — rank, salary, and honors already far beyond my deserts.

帝大悅，使大臣白其言于太后及皇太子，以彰其善。 The emperor was greatly pleased and had a senior minister repeat his words to the empress dowager and the crown prince, to display his merit.

帝嘗奉皇太后燕大安閣，閣中有故篋，問邦寧曰：「此何篋也？」 Once, while hosting the empress dowager at a feast in the Great Peace Pavilion, the emperor noticed an old chest in the hall and asked Bangning, "What is this chest?"

'」帝命發篋視之，歎曰：「非卿言，朕安知之。」 " The emperor had the chest opened and sighed. "If you had not told me, how would I ever have known?"

太后及帝深然其言。 The empress dowager and the emperor were both deeply impressed.

帝稱善。 The emperor approved.

初，仁宗為皇太子，丞相三寶奴等用事，畏仁宗英明，邦寧揣知其意，言於武宗曰：「陛下富於春秋，皇子漸長，父作子述，古之道也。 Earlier, when Renzong was crown prince, Chancellor Sanbaonu and his faction held power and feared the prince’s ability. Bangning guessed their intent and said to Wuzong: "Your Majesty is still in the prime of life, and the prince is growing up. For the father to rule and the son to follow is the ancient way.

武宗不悅曰：「朕志已定，汝自往東宮言之。」 Wuzong was displeased. "My mind is made up. Go tell the Eastern Palace yourself."
