淑妃楊氏，鎮州真定人。 Lady of Cultivated Virtue Yang was a native of Zhending in Zhenzhou.

是年生女，為周太祖淑妃，明年生廷璋。）〉 A daughter was born that year—the future Lady of Cultivated Virtue of Emperor Taizu of Zhou—and Tingzhang was born the year after.)〉

妃幼以良家子中選，事趙王王镕。 Chosen in youth from a respectable family, she entered the service of Prince of Zhao Wang Rong.

張文禮之亂，妃流離於外。 During Zhang Wenli's rebellion she was cast adrift in the chaos.

安重誨保庇妃家，致其仕進，父母即以妃嫁於鄉人石光輔，不數年嫠居。 An Chonghui protected her family and helped them advance in office; her parents then married her to a townsman named Shi Guangfu, and within a few years she was widowed.

妃睦族撫孤，宜家內助，甚有力焉。 She kept her clan in harmony and cared for orphans, and was a strong support within the household.

廣順元年九月，追冊為淑妃。 In the ninth month of Guangshun 1 she was posthumously invested as Lady of Cultivated Virtue.

時以妃喪在賊境，未及遷窆，世宗乃詔有司於嵩陵之側，預營一冢以虛之，俟賊平即議襄事。 Because her remains still lay in rebel-held territory and could not yet be moved, Shizong ordered the offices to prepare an empty tomb beside Songling, to be filled once the rebels were subdued.

妃兄廷璋，蚤事太祖，即位累歷內職，出為晉州節度使。 Her elder brother Tingzhang had served the Emperor from early on; after the founding he held a series of inner-court posts before being appointed military governor of Jin.

太祖從漢祖鎮並門，屬楊夫人以疾終，無何武氏子卒，太祖素聞妃之賢，遂納為繼室。 When the Emperor followed the Han founder to garrison Bingmen, Lady Yang died of illness; soon afterward the Wu son died as well. Having long heard of the lady's virtue, he took her as his successor consort.

太祖楊淑妃與妃鄉親，平居恒言妃賢德。 Lady of Cultivated Virtue Yang, a fellow townsman, often spoke in daily life of the lady's virtue.

太祖從漢祖幸洛，因憶淑妃之言，尋以禮納之。 When the Emperor accompanied the Han founder to Luoyang, he recalled Lady Yang's praise and soon took her as his wife with full ceremony.

淑妃楊氏 Imperial Consort Shu of the Yang clan

淑妃楊氏，鎮州真定人也。 Imperial Consort Shu of the Yang clan was from Zhending in Zhen Prefecture.

妃幼以色選入趙王宮，事王熔。 As a girl she was selected for her looks and sent into the Zhao princely household to serve Wang Rong.

熔為張文禮所殺，鎮州亂，妃亦流寓民間，後嫁里人石光輔。 When Rong was killed by Zhang Wenli and Zhen Prefecture was thrown into chaos, she too was cast adrift among the people and later married a local man, Shi Guangfu.

太祖柴夫人卒，聞妃有色而賢，遂娶之為繼室。 After Taizu's wife from the Chai clan died, he heard that this consort was both lovely and worthy and took her as his next wife.

太祖方事漢高祖於太原，天福中妃卒，遂葬太原之近郊。 Taizu was then in Gaozu of Later Han's service at Taiyuan. She died during the Tianfu reign period and was buried in the outskirts near the city.

太祖即位，廣順元年九月，追冊為淑妃。 After Taizu became emperor, in the ninth month of Guangshun 1 she was posthumously installed as Imperial Consort Shu.

顯德元年，世宗已敗劉旻於高平，遂攻太原，太原閉壁被圍，乃遷妃喪而葬之。 In Xiande 1, after Shizong had defeated Liu Chong at Gaoping, he marched on Taiyuan. With the city shut up under siege, he had the consort's remains brought forward and buried.

久之，太祖事漢高祖於太原，楊夫人卒，而武氏子亦卒，乃納妃為繼室。 Years later, while Taizu was in Gaozu of Later Han's service at Taiyuan, Lady Yang died and Wu's son died as well; Taizu then took the consort as his next wife.
