諸君皆賀，召平獨弔。 His colleagues offered congratulations; only Zhao Ping came to condole.

召平者，故秦東陵侯。 Zhao Ping was the former Marquis of Dongling under Qin.

秦破，為布衣，貧，種瓜長安城東，瓜美，故世謂「東陵瓜」，從召平始也。 After Qin’s fall he lived as a commoner in poverty, growing melons east of Chang’an so fine that people still speak of “Dongling melons,” after him.

平謂何曰：「禍自此始矣。 Zhao Ping told Xiao He, “Your troubles start here.

諸君皆賀，召平獨弔。 Everyone offered congratulations, but Shao Ping alone came to offer condolences.

召平者，故秦東陵侯。 Shao Ping had been the Marquis of Dongling under the Qin dynasty.

秦破，為布衣，貧，種瓜於長安城東，瓜美，故世俗謂之「東陵瓜」，從召平以為名也。 After Qin fell, he became a poor commoner and grew melons east of Chang'an. The melons were so fine that people called them 'Dongling melons' after his former title.
