樂安任遐爲光祿，就王晏乞一片金，晏乃啓轉爲金紫，不行。 Ren Xia of Le'an held the grandeeship of splendor; he asked Wang Yan for a piece of gold, and Yan memorialized to promote him to golden seal and purple ribbon, but the request failed.

霸府初開，賓客輻湊，太祖留意簡接，玩之與樂安任遐，俱以應對有席上之美，齊名見遇。 When the hegemon's office first opened, guests crowded in like wheel spokes; the founding sovereign took care whom he admitted. Wanzhi and Ren Xia of Le'an alike were famed for the grace of their table talk and were equally favored.

遐字景遠，好學，有義行，兼與太祖素游，褚淵、王儉竝見親愛。 Xia, styled Jingyuan, loved learning and had a sense of duty; he had long been the founding sovereign's companion, and Chu Yuan and Wang Jian alike held him dear.

左丞任遐奏澄不糾，請免澄官。 Left Assistant Ren Xia memorialized that Cheng had failed to investigate and requested that Cheng be dismissed from office.

:　　案遐啓彈新除諮議參驃騎大將軍軍事沈憲、太子庶子沈曠幷弟息，敕付建康，而憲被使，曠受假，俱無歸罪事狀。 According to Xia's impeachment of the newly appointed Advisory Counselor and staff officer on the Grand General of Rapid Cavalry's military affairs Shen Xian, the Crown Prince's Household Companion Shen Kuang, and their younger brothers and sons: an edict referred the case to Jiankang, yet Xian was on assignment and Kuang was on leave—neither had circumstances warranting conviction.

今遐所糾，旣行一時，若默而不言，則向爲來准，後人被繩，方當追請，素餐之責，貽塵千載。 What Xia now impeaches has already been put into effect. If I remain silent, what was done before becomes the standard for the future; later men will be bound by it, and only then will they pursue inquiry. The blame of holding office without merit would stain one's name for a thousand years.
