The German Prince Henry was received in audience; the emperor went to the Summer Palace and held court in the Hall of Benevolent Longevity; Prince Henry entered in formal dress, presented his credentials, and the emperor comforted him.
既，亨利慾覲皇太后，帝奉懿旨代見。
Afterward Prince Henry wished to pay respects to the empress dowager; the emperor received him on her behalf by her express command.
是日巳刻，御玉瀾堂，亨利偕德使海靖等入，外部司官引殿東便門外入布幄少憩。
That day at the si hour, the emperor held court at the Hall of Jade Ripples; Prince Henry entered together with the German envoy Heyking and others; officials of the foreign ministry led them in through the east side gate of the hall to rest briefly in the canvas tent.
慶親王等侍左右，外部長官率亨利等自中門入，北鄉一鞠躬，行數武又一鞠躬，至龍柱前又一鞠躬。
