是時李尋、解光亦言「陰氣盛則水為之長，故一日之間，晝減夜增，江河滿溢，所謂水不潤下，雖常於卑下之地，猶日月變見於朔望，明天道有因而作也。 At the same time, Li Xun and Xie Guang argued: "When yin energy grows too strong, the water rises with it. Within a single day its level falls by daylight and climbs at night until the rivers overflow. This is the portent called 'water failing to flow downward.' Water may normally seek low ground, but its changes still follow the sun and moon at the new and full moons, proof that Heaven's way acts through definite causes.
