元康為言之於世宗曰：「崔㥄名望素重，不可以私處言語便以殺之。」 Yuankang spoke for him to Emperor Wen, saying, "Cui Ling's renown has long been weighty; he must not be put to death over private words."

元康曰：「㥄若在邊，或將外叛。 Yuankang said, "If Ling is on the frontier, he may yet defect abroad.

元康曰：「嘗讀《崔琰傳》，追恨魏武不弘。 Yuankang said, "I once read the biography of Cui Yan and regretted that Wei Wu was not magnanimous.

元康曰：「崔㥄合死，朝野莫不知之，公誠能以寬濟猛，特輕其罰，則仁德彌著，天下歸心。」 Yuankang said, "Cui Ling deserves death — court and countryside alike know it; if you can temper severity with leniency and especially lighten his punishment, benevolent virtue will shine the brighter and all under Heaven will turn their hearts to you."

已文宣罷州，珽例應隨府，規為倉局之間，致請於陳元康，元康為白，由是還任倉曹。 After Gao Yang left the province Ting should have followed headquarters, but schemed for the grain-store post through Chen Yuankang, who spoke for him, and he returned to army-camp duty.

未及科，會幷州定國寺新成，神武謂陳元康、溫子升曰：「昔作《芒山寺碑》文，時稱妙絕，今《定國寺碑》當使誰作詞也？」 Before the levy was collected, the new Dingguo Temple in Bingzhou was finished. Gao Huan said to Chen Yuankang and Wen Zisheng, "The Mangshan Temple stele was called peerless—who should write the Dingguo Temple stele now?"

元康因薦珽才學，並解鮮卑語。 Yuankang recommended Ting learning and said he also understood Xianbei.

及文襄遇害，元康被傷創重，倩珽作書屬家累事，幷云：「祖喜邊有少許物，宜早索取。」 When Gao Cheng was killed Yuankang wounds were grave; he had Ting write a letter entrusting family matters, and also said, "Zu Xi at the border has a little property—take it soon."

又盜元康家書數千卷。 He also stole several thousand scrolls from Yuankang's house.
