九年，偕侍郎鍾昌赴山西鞫獄，平定知州故出人罪，鞫實，論兇犯如律，褫知州恆傑職。 In 1829 he joined Vice Minister Zhong Chang in Shanxi to try a case in which the prefect of Pingding had improperly released criminals. The facts were established, the assailants were sentenced according to law, and Prefect Heng Jie was dismissed from office.
