尋以南昌知府張寅為江西巡撫裕泰劾罷，元之為寅疏辯，臚陳政績，請查辦，詔斥冒昧，降二級調用。 Soon after, Jiangxi Governor Yu Tai impeached and dismissed Nanchang Prefect Zhang Yin. Yuanzhi memorialized in Zhang's defense, enumerating his achievements and requesting an investigation. The emperor rebuked him for presumption and demoted him two grades for reassignment.
