嘗與張燕昌論書，略曰：「古人云『筆力直透紙背』，當與天馬行空參看。 He once discussed calligraphy with Zhang Yanchang and remarked in part: 'The ancients said that brush force penetrates straight through the back of the paper—this should be read together with the image of heavenly horses roaming free.
