中平元年，黃巾賊張角等起，以進為大將軍，率左右羽林五營士屯都亭，修理器械，以鎮京師。 In 184 CE, when Zhang Jiao's Yellow Turbans rose, He Jin was named grand general; he encamped the Feathered Forest guards and the five northern legions at the metropolitan guard post and readied arms to secure Luoyang.

張角別黨馬元義謀起洛陽，進發其姦，以功封慎侯。 He Jin uncovered a plot by Ma Yuanyi, a confederate of Zhang Jiao, to strike inside Luoyang, and was enfeoffed as Marquis of Shen for the deed.
