四川僉省嚴忠范守成都，為宋將昝萬壽所敗，退保子城，世祖命澄代之。 Yen Zhongfan, Vice Secretariat Commissioner of Sichuan, had been defending Chengdu when he was defeated by the Song general Zan Wanshou and forced to retreat into the inner citadel. Kublai ordered Cheng to replace him.
