賈明觀者，本萬年縣捕賊小胥，事劉希暹，恃魚朝恩之勢，恣行兇忍，毒甚豺虺。 Jia Mingguan had been a junior clerk for apprehending thieves in Wannian county; he served Liu Xixian and, relying on the eunuch Yu Chao'en's power, committed cruelties more vicious than wolves or vipers.

朝恩、希暹既誅，元載當權，納明觀奸謀，容之，特令江西效力。 After Chao'en and Xixian were executed, Yuan Zai held power, took Mingguan's treacherous counsel, sheltered him, and specially ordered him to serve in Jiangxi.

大歷四年六月，與右僕射裴遵慶同赴本曹視事，敕尚食增置儲供，許內侍魚朝恩及宰臣已下常朝官鹹詣省送上。 In the sixth month of Dali 4 (AD 769) he and Right Vice Director Pei Zunqing took up office at the Ministry of Personnel; the emperor ordered extra provisions from the imperial kitchen and allowed Eunuch Yu Chaoen and all regular court officials down to the chancellors to visit the ministry with congratulations.

魚朝恩伏誅，琦坐與款狎，出為處州刺史，歷饒、湖二州。 After the eunuch Yu Chao'en was executed, Di Wuqi was punished for his close ties to him and banished first to Chuzhou, then to Rao and Hu.

宦官魚朝恩為觀軍容使，仍知國子監事，恃寵含威，天憲在舌。 The eunuch Yu Chao'en served as army-observing commissioner and also supervised the Imperial University. Trusting in imperial favor, he wielded intimidating power as though the law itself were his to pronounce.

前尹黎干寫心候事，動必求媚，每朝恩入監，傾府人吏具數百人之餼以待之。 The previous governor, Li Gan, fawned on him in every matter. Whenever Yu Chao'en visited the directorate, Li mobilized the entire prefectural staff to prepare food for hundreds of men.

及勉蒞職旬月，朝恩入監，府吏先期有請，勉曰：「軍容使判國子監事，勉候太學，軍容宜厚具主禮。 About ten days after Mian took office, Yu Chao'en came to the directorate. The prefectural clerks asked in advance how to receive him. Mian said, "As army-observing commissioner supervising the Directorate of Education, he should be received at the Imperial College with full honors befitting the host.
