時世宗聞福建倉穀虧空，遣廣東巡撫楊文乾等往按，被劾者半，受代者爭為煩苛，起元獨持平。 When the Yongzheng Emperor learned that Fujian's granary accounts showed large shortfalls, he sent Guangdong governor Yang Wenqian and others to investigate. Half of those investigated were impeached, and their successors competed to be harsh and troublesome—only Qiyuan remained fair and even-handed.

雍正元年，遷廣西右江道僉事，部請留任一年，世宗命以升銜留任，賜人葠、貂皮。 In Yongzheng 1 he was transferred to surveillance commissioner of the Guangxi Right River Circuit; when the ministry asked to retain him another year, the Yongzheng Emperor ordered him kept on with an elevated title and rewarded him with ginseng and sable fur.

世宗馭吏嚴，內外大僚凜凜，救過不暇。 The Yongzheng Emperor ruled his officials with an iron hand; high officers at court and in the provinces lived in awe, scrambling merely to cover their mistakes.

福敏督湖廣，世宗命葉滋往贊其幕。 When Fu Min governed Huguang, the Shizong Emperor ordered Yezi to assist his staff.
