太傅親承顧託，鎮守宮闈，遺誥綢繆，義深垣屏，而欑塗未御，翌日無淹，仍遣劉師知、殷不佞等顯言排斥。 The Grand Tutor had been entrusted in person to guard the palace; the late emperor's will bound him like a wall—yet the emperor never came to him on the first day of mourning, and on the very next day sent Liu Shizhi, Yin Buxin, and others to push him aside.

及高宗為尚書令，入輔，光大元年，師知與仲舉等遣舍人殷不佞矯詔令高宗還東府，事覺，於北獄賜死。 When Emperor Xuan was Director of the Masters of Writing and regent, in the first year of Guangda, Shizhi, Zhongju, and the others sent Attendant Yin Buniu with a forged order telling Emperor Xuan to return to the Eastern Mansion. The plot was exposed, and Shizhi was ordered to die in the northern prison.

及文帝崩，高宗受遺詔為尚書令入輔，仲舉與左丞王暹、中書舍人劉師知、殷不佞等，以朝望有歸，乃遣不佞矯宣旨遣高宗還東府。 When Emperor Wen died, Emperor Xuan took the testament as director of the masters of writing and entered to govern. Zhongju, with the left assistant Wang Xian and secretariat attendants Liu Shizhi and Yin Bujiu, judged where the court’s hopes lay and sent Bujiu to forge an edict ordering Emperor Xuan back to the Eastern Mansion.

事發，師知下北獄賜死，暹、不佞並付治，乃以仲舉為貞毅將軍、金紫光祿大夫。 When the plot came out, Shizhi was sent to the northern prison and granted death. Xian and Bujiu were handed over for trial. Zhongju was reduced to steadfast-resolution general and grandee with the gold seal and purple ribbon.

弟不佞 His younger brother Buning

不佞字季卿，不害弟也。 Buning, styled Jiqing, was Buhai's younger brother.

時兵荒飢饉，百姓流移，不佞巡撫招集，繈負而至者以千數。 At the time arms and famine ravaged the land and the people drifted in flight. Buning toured to comfort and gather them in, and those who came swaddled on the back numbered in the thousands.

不佞居處之節，如始聞問，若此者又三年。 Buning's observances in dwelling were as at the first news of bereavement; he did so for another three years.

不佞素以名節自立，又受委東宮，乃與僕射到仲舉、中書舍人劉師知、尚書右丞王暹等，謀矯詔出高宗。 Buning had always stood on his reputation for integrity and had again been entrusted by the eastern palace. He therefore joined vice director Dao Zhongju, Secretariat attendant Liu Shizhi, right vice director Wang Xian, and others in plotting to forge an edict removing Emperor Xuan.

眾人猶豫，未敢先發，不佞乃馳詣相府，面宣敕，令相王還第。 The others hesitated and dared not move first; Buning galloped to the chief minister's residence, proclaimed the edict in person, and ordered the prince regent back to his mansion.

及事發，仲舉等皆伏誅，高宗雅重不佞，特赦之，免其官而已。 When the affair broke, Zhongju and the rest were all executed. Emperor Xuan had long valued Buning and specially pardoned him, merely stripping his office.

不佞最小，事第二寡嫂張氏甚謹，所得祿俸，不入私室。 Buning was the youngest. He served his second elder brother's widow Lady Zhang with great care; the salary he received never entered his private quarters.
