上方招文學儒者，上曰吾欲云云，默對曰：「陛下內多欲而外施仁義，奈何欲效唐、虞之治乎！」 While the court was recruiting literati and Confucians and the emperor aired his lofty plans, Ji An replied, "Your Majesty harbors many desires within, yet outwardly displays benevolence and righteousness—how then can you hope to emulate the governance of Yao and Shun?"
