帝因諭輔臣楊廷和、蔣冕、毛紀，帝、後加稱「皇」。 Jiajing then told chief ministers Yang Tinghe, Jiang Mian, and Mao Ji to add "Imperial" to the new titles.

廷和等合廷臣爭之，未決。 Yang Tinghe and others united the court in opposition; the matter remained unsettled.

初，楊廷和等議封益王次子崇仁王厚炫為興王，奉獻帝祀。 Earlier Yang Tinghe had proposed making Prince Yi's second son, Chongren prince Hou Xuan, Prince of Xing to tend the Xian emperor's cult.
