三月甲戌，於越休哥奏宋遣曹彬、崔彥進、米信由雄州道，田重進飛狐道，潘美、楊繼業雁門道來侵，岐溝、涿州、固安、新城皆陷。
In the third month, on jiaxu day, yuyue Xiuge reported that Song had sent Cao Bin, Cui Yanjin, and Mi Xin by the Xiongzhou route, Tian Chongjin by the Feihu route, and Pan Mei and Yang Jiye by the Yanmen route to invade; Qigou, Zhuo Prefecture, Gu'an, and Xincheng had all fallen.
秋七月丙子，樞密使斜軫遣侍御涅裏底、幹勤哥奏復朔州，擒宋將楊繼業，及上所獲將校印綬、誥敕，賜涅裏底等酒及銀器。
On bingzi day in the seventh autumn month Commissioner of Military Affairs Xiezhen sent attendants Nielidi and Gan Qinge to report the recovery of Shuozhou and the capture of Song general Yang Jiye, and to submit the captured officers’ seals, cords, patents, and orders; Nielidi and the others received wine and silver vessels.
宋將楊繼業初以驍勇自負，號楊無敵，北據雲、朔數州，至是，引兵南出朔州三十里，至狼牙村，惡其名，不進；
Song general Yang Jiye had prided himself on martial prowess and was called Yang the Invincible; holding Yun, Shuozhou, and several northern prefectures, he now led his force thirty li south from Shuozhou to Langya Village, but disliking the name he refused to go farther;
自是宋守雲、應諸州者，聞繼業死，皆棄城遁。
From then on Song defenders of Yun, Ying, and the other prefectures, hearing that Jiye was dead, all abandoned their cities and fled.

統和四年，宋復來侵，其將範密、楊繼業出雲州；
In the fourth year of Tonghe the Song invaded again: Fan Mi and Yang Ye advanced from Yunzhou;
會宋將曹彬、米信出雄、易，楊繼業出代州。
When Song generals Cao Bin and Mi Xin advanced from Xiong and Yi, Yang Ye marched out from Daizhou.
繼業陷山西諸郡，各以兵守，自屯代州。
Ye had overrun the Shanxi commanderies and left troops to hold each; he himself encamped at Daizhou.
斜軫聞繼業出兵，令蕭撻凜伏兵於路。
When Xiezhen heard that Ye was marching out, he ordered Xiao Tadin to set an ambush along the road.
明旦，繼業兵至，斜軫擁眾為戰勢。
At dawn Ye's army arrived, and Xiezhen drew up his troops for battle.
繼業麾幟而前，斜軫佯退。
Ye advanced under his banners; Xiezhen feigned a retreat.
伏兵發，斜軫進攻，繼業敗走，至狼牙村，眾軍皆潰。
The ambush sprang up and Xiezhen pressed the attack. Ye was routed and fled to Langya Village, where his whole army broke apart.
繼業為流矢所中，被擒。
Ye was struck by a stray arrow and taken captive.
繼業但稱死罪而已。
Yang Ye could only plead for death.
初，繼業在宋以驍勇聞，人號楊無敵，首建梗邊之策。
Earlier in Song service Yang Ye had been famed for valor; people called him Yang the Invincible, and he had been first to urge a hard line on the border.
時宋將楊繼業陷山西郡縣，奚低從樞密使斜軫討之。
When the Song general Yang Ye overran the Shanxi commanderies, Xidi followed Privy Council Commissioner Xiezhen against him.
繼業敗於朔州之南，匿深林中。
Ye was defeated south of Shuozhou and hid in deep forest.
奚低望袍影而射，繼業墮馬。
Xidi caught sight of a robe's shadow and shot; Ye fell from his horse.
先是，軍令須生擒繼業，奚低以故不能為功。
Earlier orders had required Ye to be taken alive, so for that reason Xidi could not claim the credit.
論曰：宋乘下太原之銳，以師圍燕，繼遣曹彬、楊繼業等分道來伐。
The historians comment: Song, riding the momentum of taking Taiyuan, besieged Yan with their army and then sent Cao Bin, Yang Ye, and others to attack by separate routes.
斜軫擒繼業於朔州，旋復故地。
Xiezhen captured Yang Ye at Shuo and soon recovered the lost territory.

In the fourth year of Tonghe (986), the Song general Yang Ye marched from Dai Prefecture to invade Liao territory and seized a number of towns.
撻凜以諸軍副部署，從樞密使耶律斜軫敗之，擒繼業於朔州。
Talin served as deputy commander of the combined armies and, under Grand Councilor Yelu Xiezhen, routed the Song force and took Yang Ye prisoner at Shuozhou.
四年，宋將楊繼業陷山西城邑，題子從北院樞密使耶律斜軫擊之，敗賀令圖於定安，授西南面招討都監。
In the fourth year, when the Song general Yang Ye overran towns in Shanxi, Tizi marched under Northern Chancellery Grand Councilor Yelu Xiezhen, defeated He Lingtu at Ding'an, and was appointed Chief Commander of Southwestern Pacification.
當斜軫擒繼業於朔州，題子功居多。
When Xiezhen took Yang Ye prisoner at Shuozhou, the greater share of the credit belonged to Tizi.
統和四年，宋將楊繼業來攻山西，諧理從耶律斜軫擊之，常居先鋒，偵候有功。
In the fourth year of Tonghe, when the Song general Yang Ye invaded Shanxi, Xieli marched under Yelu Xiezhen, regularly led the vanguard, and distinguished himself in reconnaissance.

In the fourth year of Tonghe, when Yang Ye invaded from Song territory, Nugua—then chief of the Yellow Pishi Regiment—defeated him and recovered every town the Song had taken.
