父崇之字茂敬，卽左光祿大夫道賜之子。 His father Chongzhi, styled Maojing, was the son of Daoci, who had held the post of Left Chamberlain for the Imperial Insignia.

道賜三子：長子尚之，字茂先； Daoci had three sons: the eldest, Shangzhi, styled Maoxian;

初，左光祿居於鄉里，專行禮讓，爲衆所推。 Earlier, while living in his home district, Daoci had devoted himself to ritual propriety and modest deference and was widely respected.
