中書舍人吳宗旦事之尤謹，夜則易服造謁。 Palace draftsman Wu Zongdan served him slavishly, visiting by night in disguise.

德謙求為節度使，先薦宗旦為刑部侍郎、直學士院，將使草麻。 Deqian sought a military commissionership and first secured Zongdan as Vice Minister of Justice and Hanlin academician to draft the edict.

宗旦先備草示之，引天寶、同光為比，德謙喜。 Zongdan drafted a text comparing him to the Tang eunuch generals of Tianbao and Tongguang; Deqian was delighted.

侍御史姚愈言吳宗旦嚐草德謙製，遂罷其官。 Attendant Yao Yu noted Zongdan had drafted the patent; Zongdan was dismissed.
