論魏、晉故事，因曰：「晉革命時事久兆，石苞不早勸晉文，死方慟哭，方之馮異，非知機也。」 Discussing Wei and Jin precedents, he said, "When Jin took the mandate the omen was old; Shi Bao did not urge Wen of Jin in time—he wept only at death. Set beside Feng Yi, that is not reading the hour."
