Both alternatives fall within absolute Western year bounds AD 1281-1283: year 18 begins in AD 1281 and year 19 ends before year 20 begins in early AD 1283. This is an enclosing bound for one death event, not selection of either regnal year, a continuous activity interval, or a third source claim that he died in year 20.
