既而浙江巡撫王亶望以貪敗，上追咎敏中。 Later Zhejiang Governor Wang Tanwang was ruined by corruption, and the emperor traced blame back to Minzhong.

迨四十六年甘肅捐監折收之事敗露，王亶望等侵欺貪黷，罪不容誅。 When in the forty-sixth year the Gansu practice of selling supervisory student status and collecting grain in lieu of silver was exposed, Wang Tanwang and others were guilty of embezzlement and corruption beyond what execution could expiate.

詎知勒爾謹為王亶望所愚，通同一氣，肥橐殃民。 Who knew that Le'erjin would be deceived by Wang Tanwang, act in collusion, fatten their purses, and harm the people?

王亶望豈敢肆無忌憚？ How would Wang Tanwang have dared to act so brazenly?

於敏中擁有厚貲，必出王亶望等賄求酬謝。 Yu Minzhong's possession of great wealth must have come from bribes and rewards sought by Wang Tanwang and others.

光鼐疏言：「前總督陳輝祖、巡撫王亶望貪墨敗露，總督富勒渾未嚴察。 Guangnai memorialized: "Former Governor-General Chen Huizu and Governor Wang Danwang were exposed for corruption, yet Governor-General Fulehun did not investigate rigorously.

甘肅冒賑折捐事發，主其事者為甘肅布政使王亶望，時已遷浙江巡撫，坐誅，總督勒爾謹及諸府縣吏死者數十人，事具亶望傳。 When the Gansu fraudulent relief and diverted-grain scandal erupted, the chief figure was Provincial Administration Commissioner Wang Danwang, by then Zhejiang governor; he was executed, Governor-General Le'erjin and dozens of prefectural and county officials died—the affair is detailed in Danwang's biography.
