六世祖宏，河東太守，綿竹侯，以從叔司徒允之難，棄官北居新興，仍為新興、鴈門太守，其自敍云爾。 Six generations back, his ancestor Hong had been Administrator of Hedong and Marquis of Mianzhu. When his collateral paternal uncle, Minister over the Masses Wang Yun, met disaster, Hong resigned and moved north to Xinxing, later serving as administrator of Xinxing and Yanmen—so his own family record ran.
