褒國公宇文述以兵討之，瓛遣王哀守吳州，自將拒述。 Duke of Baoguo Yuwen Shu came with troops to suppress him. Huan sent Wang Ai to hold Wu prefecture and personally led the army against Shu.

述遣兵別道襲吳州，哀懼，衣道士服，棄城而遁。 Shu sent troops by another route to strike Wu prefecture. Ai, terrified, dressed as a Daoist priest, abandoned the city, and fled.
