魏冉謝病免相，以客卿壽燭為相。 Wei Ran pleaded illness and resigned as chancellor, recommending his guest minister Shou Zhu to replace him as chancellor.

其明年，燭免，復相冉，乃封魏冉於穰，復益封陶，號曰穰侯。 The following year, Zhu was dismissed and Ran became chancellor once more. Then Wei Ran was enfeoffed with Rang, his fief was further increased by Tao, and he was titled Marquis of Rang.
