五年春，冉天元糾數路殘匪潛匿大竹，魁倫逡巡未發，賊脅眾數万由定遠渡嘉陵江，圖擾川西，魁倫繞道鄰水，自順慶追剿，檄總兵七十五還守重慶。 In the spring of the fifth year Ran Tianyuan rallied remnant bands from several routes and hid in Dazhu. Kui Lun dallied and did not strike. The rebels raised a host of tens of thousands, crossed the Jialing at Dingyuan, and aimed to ravage western Sichuan. Kui Lun detoured through Linshui and gave chase from Shunqing, while ordering Commander-in-Chief No. 75 back to hold Chongqing.
