勃以千金與獄吏，獄吏乃書牘背示之，曰「以公主為證」。 Bo gave a thousand jin of gold to the prison officials, who then wrote on the back of a wooden tablet and showed it to him: "Call the princess as your witness."

公主者，孝文帝女也，勃太子勝之尚之，故獄吏教引為證。 The princess was Emperor Wen's daughter; Bo's heir, Shengzhi, had married her. That is why the prison officials advised him to call upon her as a witness.

六歲，尚公主，不相中，坐殺人，國除。 After six years, he married a princess, but the match was unhappy; he was convicted of murder, and his marquisate was abolished.
