元嘉末，爲國子生，再遷湘東王國常侍，轉潯陽王府墨曹參軍。 At the end of the Yuanjia era he entered the Imperial Academy; he was twice promoted to regular attendant of the Prince of Xiangdong's household, then transferred to ink-office adjutant under the Prince of Xunyang.
