劉焉字君郎，江夏竟陵人也，漢魯恭王之後裔，章帝元和中徙封竟陵，支庶家焉。 Liu Yan, courtesy name Junlang, came from Jingling in Jiangxia. His line descended from Han Prince Gong of Lu; during Emperor Zhang’s Yuanhe reign the fief was reassigned to Jingling, where a younger branch of the house made its home.
