及高祖為丞相，周陳王純鎮齊州，高祖恐純為變，遣彭以兩騎征純入朝。
When Emperor Wen was chancellor, Prince Chen Chun of Zhou was stationed at Qizhou; fearing rebellion, the emperor sent Peng with two mounted escorts to summon Chun to court.
彭未至齊州三十裡，因詐病，止傳舍，遣人謂純曰：「天子有詔書至王所，彭苦疾，不能強步，願王降臨之。」
Thirty li from Qizhou Peng feigned illness, stopped at a relay station, and sent word to Chun: "The Son of Heaven has an edict for Your Highness; Peng is too ill to walk—please come to me."
純疑有變，多將從騎至彭所。
Chun suspected trouble and came with many mounted followers.
彭出傳舍迎之，察純有疑色，恐不就征，因詐純曰：「王可避人，將密有所道。」
Peng came out to meet him, saw suspicion on Chun's face, and fearing refusal, deceived him: "Your Highness may dismiss your attendants—I have something confidential to say."
純麾從騎，彭又曰：「將宣詔，王可下馬。」
Chun dismissed his followers; Peng said again, "I am about to proclaim the edict—Your Highness should dismount."
純遽下，彭顧其騎士曰：「陳王不從詔征，可執也。」
Chun hurriedly dismounted; Peng turned to his horsemen and said, "Prince Chen refuses the summons—seize him."
彭乃大言曰：「陳王有罪，詔征入朝，左右不得輒動。」
Peng then declared loudly, "Prince Chen is guilty; by edict he is summoned to court—attendants must not move."
