遭母喪，居南岸，隣家失火，延燒琰屋，琰抱柩不動，隣人競來赴救，乃得俱全。 During his mother's mourning he lived on the south bank. A neighbor's house caught fire and the blaze spread to Yan's dwelling. He clung to the coffin and would not move; neighbors rushed to help, and mother and coffin were saved unharmed.
