初，左軍中尉馬元贄最為帝寵信，賜通天犀帶。 Earlier, Left Army Commandant Ma Yuanzan was the emperor's most favored and trusted man and was given a belt of penetrating-heaven rhinoceros horn.

而植素與元贄善，至通昭穆，元贄以賜帶遺之。 Zhi had long been close to Yuanzan, even using generational kinship terms with him; Yuanzan gave him the imperial belt as a gift.
