初，廣州刺史馬靖久居嶺表，大得人心，士馬彊盛，朝廷疑之。 Ma Jing had long governed Guangzhou in the far south, won the people's loyalty, and commanded a strong force; the court grew wary of him.

至是以方慶為仁威將軍、廣州刺史，以兵襲靖。 Fangqing was then made general of benevolent might and inspector of Guangzhou and sent to attack Ma Jing with an army.

靖誅，進號宣毅將軍。 After Jing was killed, Fangqing was promoted to general who proclaims resolution.

方慶之襲馬靖也，朝廷以勇為超武將軍、東衡州刺史，領始興內史，以為方慶聲勢。 When Fangqing moved against Ma Jing, the court made Yong super martial general, inspector of Eastern Hengzhou, and interior magistrate of Shixing to strengthen Fangqing's position.

靖誅，以功封龍陽縣子。 After Jing's death Yong was enfeoffed as viscount of Longyang for his service.

太建中，高宗使吏部侍郎蕭引喻廣州刺史馬靖，令入子為質，引奏華與俱行。 In the Taijian era, Emperor Xuan sent vice minister of personnel Xiao Yin to instruct Guangzhou inspector Ma Jing to send his son as hostage; Yin memorialized that Hua should accompany the mission.
