陸山才 Lu Shancai

陸山才字孔章，吳郡吳人也。 Lu Shancai, styled Kongzhang, was a native of Wu in Wu commandery.

山才少倜儻，好尚文史，范陽張（續）纘，[8]（續）纘弟綰，並欽重之。 In youth Shancai was free-spirited and fond of letters and history. Zhang (Xu)Zuan of Fanyang [8] and Zuan's younger brother Wan both esteemed him highly.

承聖元年，王僧辯授山才儀同府西曹掾。 In Chengsheng year 1 (552), Wang Sengbian appointed Shancai western bureau clerk in the Yitong office.

高祖誅僧辯，山才奔會稽依張彪。 When the Founder killed Sengbian, Shancai fled to Kuaiji and attached himself to Zhang Biao.

彪敗，乃歸高祖。 When Biao was defeated, Shancai submitted to the Founder.

紹泰中，都督周文育出鎮南豫州，不知書疏，乃以山才為長史，政事悉以委之。 In the Shaotai era Commander Zhou Wenyu took up his post at South Yuzhou. Unable to manage documents himself, he made Shancai his chief clerk and left all administration to him.

文育南討，剋蕭勃，擒歐陽頠，計畫多出山才。 When Wenyu marched south he defeated Xiao Bo and captured Ouyang Wei; most of the plans were Shancai's.

及文育西征王琳，留山才監江州事，仍鎮豫章。 When Wenyu marched west against Wang Lin he left Shancai to oversee Jiangzhou and continued to hold Yuzhang.

文育與侯安都於沌口敗績，余孝頃自新林來寇豫章，山才收合餘眾，依于周迪。 Wenyu and Hou Andu were beaten at Dundu. Yu Xiaoqing came from Xinlin to strike Yuzhang. Shancai gathered the remnant army and joined Zhou Di.

擒余孝頃、李孝欽等，[9]遣山才自都陽之樂安嶺東道送于京師。 Zhou Di captured Yu Xiaoqing and Li Xiaoqin; [9] he sent Shancai by the eastern route from Poyang over the Le'an Ridge to deliver them to the capital.

文育重鎮豫章金口，山才復為貞威將軍、鎮南長史、豫章太守。 When Wenyu again held the Jin Ford of Yuzhang in force, Shancai was again made general of manifest prestige, chief clerk to the pacifier of the south, and administrator of Yuzhang.

文育為熊曇朗所害，曇朗囚山才等，送于王琳。 Wenyu was killed by Xiong Tanlang. Tanlang imprisoned Shancai and his party and sent them to Wang Lin.

未至，而侯安都敗琳將常眾愛於宮亭湖，由是山才獲反，除貞威將軍、新安太守。 Before they arrived, Hou Andu defeated Lin's general Chang Zhong'ai at Gongting Lake, and Shancai was able to return. He was made general of manifest prestige and administrator of Xin'an.

侯安都討留異，山才率王府之眾從焉。 When Hou Andu campaigned against Liu Yi, Shancai led the prince's household troops with him.

高宗南征周迪，以山才為軍司。 When Emperor Xuan campaigned south against Zhou Di, he made Shancai army administrator.

迪平，復職。 After Di was pacified, Shancai was restored to office.

余孝頃自海道襲晉安，山才又以本官之會稽，指授方略。 When Yu Xiaoqing attacked Jin'an by sea, Shancai again went to Kuaiji in his existing office and directed the strategy.

贈右衛將軍，諡曰簡子。 He was posthumously made right guard general and given the posthumous title Jianzi.
