漢時有白公者，奏穿渠引涇水，起谷口，入櫟陽，註渭中，袤二百里，溉田四千五百餘頃，因名曰白渠。 In Han times Lord Bai memorialized for a canal drawing Jing water from Gukou through Liyang into the Wei—over two hundred li irrigating more than four thousand five hundred qing—hence the Bai Canal.
