六年，左都御史劉吳龍劾焯營私受賄，上解焯任，命總督德沛、副都統旺扎爾按治，事皆實，請奪官刑訊。 In 1741 Left Censor-in-chief Liu Wulong accused Chao of corruption and bribery. The emperor removed him from office and ordered Governor-general Depè and Vice Banner Commander Wangzhar to investigate; every charge was proved, and they recommended stripping his rank and putting him to the question.
