又無方自達，乃與劉騰為養息，賂騰金寶巨萬計。 With no other path forward he became Liu Teng's adopted son and paid him bribes in gold and jewels beyond counting.

騰屢為之言，乃得兼都官尚書，出為秦州刺史。 Teng spoke for him again and again until he won the directorship of the Court for the Imperial Clan and went out as Qinzhou inspector.

內恃劉騰，無所畏憚，為中尉糾彈，會赦，除名為民。 Backed by Liu Teng within, he feared nothing until the chief commandant impeached him; an amnesty spared his life but he was stripped of rank and made a commoner.

正光元年七月，叉與劉騰逼肅宗於顯陽殿，閉靈太后於後宮，囚懌於門下省，誣懌罪狀，遂害之，時年三十四。 In the first year of Zhenguang, seventh month, Cha and Liu Teng seized Xiaoming in Xianyang Hall, walled the dowager in the rear palace, jailed Yi in the Gate and Chamber office, forged charges, and killed him at thirty-four.
