汴將楊師厚之鎮魏州，裝與副使李嗣業有舊，因往依之，薦授貴鄉令。 When the Bian general Yang Shihou was posted to Weizhou, Zhuang had old ties with the deputy commissioner Li Siye and went to rely on him; he was recommended and appointed magistrate of Guixiang.

及張彥之亂，嗣業遇害，裝罷秩，客於魏州。 When Zhang Yan's rebellion broke out, Siye was killed; Zhuang lost his post and lived as a guest in Weizhou.
