道次江寧，東昏將李居士以重兵屯新亭，是日選精騎一千至江寧行頓，景宗始至，安營未立； At Jiangning, Dong Hun's general Li Jushi held Xinting with a heavy force; that day he sent a thousand picked horsemen to Jingzong's halt—Jingzong had just arrived and his camp was not yet pitched;

且師行日久，器甲穿弊，居士望而輕之，因鼓噪前薄景宗。 and the column had marched long, its arms in tatters; Jushi saw this, despised them, and charged with drums and shouts straight at Jingzong.

景宗被甲馳戰，短兵裁接，居士棄甲奔走，景宗皆獲之，因鼓而前，徑至皁莢橋築壘。 Jingzong armored and rode to meet them; in close fight Jushi threw off his armor and ran; Jingzong took them all, drummed forward, and built a rampart at Zaojia Bridge.

其日，東昏將李居士與衆來戰，僧珍等要擊，大破之。 That day Donghun's general Li Jushi brought his force to battle; Sengzhen intercepted and shattered them.

李居士密覘知衆少，率銳卒萬人，直來薄城。 Li Jushi spied and saw how thin the garrison was; he led ten thousand elite men straight against the walls.

俄而皆越塹拔柵，僧珍分人上城，矢石俱發，自率馬步三百人出其後，守隅者復踰城而下，內外齊擊，居士應時奔散，獲其器甲不可勝計。 Soon they crossed the moat and wrenched down the stakes; Sengzhen put men on the wall with stones and arrows raining, led three hundred horse and foot around their rear, and had the corner guards leap down as well—inner and outer struck as one, Jushi fled instantly, and arms taken were beyond reckoning.

陳吏部尚書姚察曰：王珍國、申胄、徐元瑜、李居士，齊末咸爲列將，擁強兵，或面縛請罪，或斬關獻捷； Chen minister of personnel Yao Cha said: Wang Zhenguo, Shen Gou, Xu Yuanyu, and Li Jushi—at the end of Qi all were ranked generals with strong armies; some bound themselves and pleaded guilt, some cut the passes and offered victory;

九月甲辰，以居士為江州刺史，新除冠軍將軍王珍國為雍州刺史，車騎將軍建安王寶寅為荊州刺史。 Ninth month, day jiachen: Li Jushi took Jiang; Wang Zhenguo, newly made champion general, took Yong; Prince Bao Yin of Jian'an, general of chariots and cavalry, took Jing.

丙辰，李居士與義軍戰於新亭，敗績。 Day bingchen: Li Jushi met the loyal army at Xinting and was routed.

李居士以新亭降，琅邪城主張木亦降。 Li Jushi gave up Xinting, and Zhang Mu, chief of Langye fortress, followed suit.
