時兄鍊已與源休相率受賊偽官。 At that time his elder brother Lian had already followed Yuan Xiu in accepting rebel nominal offices.

鎮僕人有逃歸投鍊，云鎮病足在鄠。 A servant of Zhen escaped and surrendered to Lian, saying Zhen's injured foot was in Hu.

鍊與源休聞之大喜，遂言於賊泚。 Lian and Yuan Xiu heard this with great joy and reported it to rebel Ci.

既知不免，每憂沮，常懷刃將自裁，多為兄鍊所救而罷。 Once he knew he could not escape, he was always dejected; he often carried a blade intending suicide, but was mostly stopped by his elder brother Lian.

至是，與兄鍊等並授偽職，斬於東市西北街。 At this time he and his elder brother Lian and others, having all received rebel offices, were beheaded at the northwest street of the eastern market.
