服闋待次，時平涼回酋田五作亂，爾漢與通判吳廷芳、知縣黃家駒守靖遠城，賊來攻。 After mourning he waited for a new posting. The Muslim leader Tian Wu of Pingliang had risen in revolt, and Erhan, together with Subprefect Wu Tingfang and Magistrate Huang Jiaju, held Jingyuan when the rebels assaulted the walls.
