初，高宗居鄉里，先娶吳興錢氏女，及即位，拜為貴妃，甚有寵，后傾心下之。 Earlier, when Emperor Xuan was living at home, he had first married a woman of the Qian clan of Wuxing. After he came to the throne he made her honored consort and favored her greatly, while the empress humbled herself before her with complete sincerity.

每尚方供奉之物，其上者皆推於貴妃，而己御其次焉。 Whenever the imperial workshops supplied goods, she always yielded the finest to the honored consort and used the lesser ones herself.
