父洪臣，原籍汾州。 His father Hongchen was a native of Fenzhou.

順治二年，英親王阿濟格下九江，洪臣隨明將左夢庚來降，入旗，授佐領，分轄降眾。 In Shunzhi 2 (1645), when Prince Ying Ajige took Jiujiang, Hongchen followed the Ming general Zuo Menggeng in surrender, entered the banners as an assistant banner commander, and governed the surrendered troops.
