適坤一奏劾山西將賀星明侵餉，革職，鴻禨言：「刑賞治天下之大柄，軍紀廢弛已久，宜嚴懲以儆其餘。」 Just then Liu Kunyi impeached Shanxi General He Xingming for embezzling pay and had him dismissed; Hongji argued: "Reward and punishment are the great levers of government; military discipline has long been lax, and stern punishment is needed to warn others."
