太祖召至，賞之曰：「昔耿弇不俟光武擊張步，言不以賊遺君父，弇之功，爾其二焉。」 The Founder summoned and rewarded him, saying, "Formerly Geng Yan did not wait for Guangwu to strike Zhang Bu, saying he would not leave bandits to lord and father—Yan's merit; yours is twice it."
