嘗遇故主於道，主走避，守德命左右迎之至第，親上食奉酒，主流汗不敢當。 He once met his old master on the road; the man fled, but Shoude had him brought to his house, served him food and wine himself, while the master sweated in terror.

數日，入奏曰：「臣蒙國恩過分，而故主無寸祿，請解官授之。」 Days later he told the emperor, "I have been favored beyond desert, yet my old master has no stipend—I beg to yield my post to him."

帝嘉其誌，擢為郎將。 The emperor praised his loyalty and made his former master a commandant.
