其王梵志率其徒乘巨象而戰，方軍不利。 King Fan Zhi arrayed his warriors atop great elephants, and Liu Fang's forces suffered at first.

梵志悉眾而陣，方與戰，偽北，梵志逐之，至坑所，其眾多陷，轉相驚駭，軍遂亂。 Fan Zhi drew up his full army; Liu Fang fought, then feigned defeat. Fan Zhi gave chase; when his men reached the pits masses stumbled in, terror rippled through the ranks, and the host collapsed into chaos.

方班師，梵志復其故地，遣使謝罪，於是朝貢不絕。 When Liu Fang withdrew, Fan Zhi regained his old lands and dispatched envoys to sue for pardon; from then on tribute flowed without interruption.
