統和初，皇太后稱制，以戚屬入侍。 Early in the Tonghe era, when the empress dowager held regency, he entered court service through imperial connections.

太后望見喜，召謂之曰：「卿戮力如此，何患不濟！」 The empress dowager saw him from afar and was delighted; summoning him she said, "With such exertion as yours, how can we fail!"
