其太后臨朝，湘陰公嗣立，皆周所假託，非誠實，所以破其姦，故書曰「漢亡」，見周之立遲也，遲而難於自立，則猶有自媿之心焉。 The empress dowager’s regency and the Duke of Xiangyin’s succession were Zhou pretexts, not realities. To expose that deceit, the text says “Han perished,” showing how slowly Zhou dared to establish itself; that delay shows it still felt some shame.
